Three Vian High School wrestlers will get to wrestle in the firstever state tournaments that will take place in Oklahoma City’s O.G.&E. Pavilion, a.k.a. “The ‘New’ Big House,” this weekend.
At the Class 3A Regional Tournament last Friday and Saturday in Blackwell, heavyweight wrestler Garritt Hunt won the regional title, while 138-pounder Adoff Stahl placed fifth to grab the final berth to state from that weight class.
Hunt will wrestle in the Class 3A State Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday against whoever wins Thursday’s heavyweight “wrestlein” match between Anadarko’s Josiah Raines and Checotah’s Payden Miller.
Stahl will face Lone Grove’s Luke Stinson in his weight’s “wrestle-in” match on Thursday.
At the Class 5A Regional Tournament on Feb. 16-17 in Inola, Maddison Turman was the regional runner-up at 120 pounds.
Turman will square off against Little Axe’s Brylee Mullican in the state-tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at O.G.&E. Pavilion.
