Gore Lady Pirates powerlifter qualifies for state

FAIRVIEW — Gore’s Maddison Douglass was fifth at 168 pounds in the small school division at the Class A Regional Meet, which took place last Wednesday, to grab a state meet berth.

Douglass lifted a total of 635 pounds with personal bests in all three areas — 215 pounds in the squat, 130 in the bench press and 290 in the deadlift.

Douglass was slated to compete in the Class A State Meet, which was to take place in Durant.

The high school boys powerlifters will be idle until their regional meets this week.

The Pirates and the Central Tigers will begin their postseason at the Class A Regional Meet at 9 a.m. next Friday in Hartshorne.
