Former Vian softball player Greenlee Wells and the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison had two perfect weekends of softball as they swept Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game series Feb. 20-21 in Shawnee, then did there same thing last Friday and Saturday against Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The Bison opened the UAM series with an 8-7 win as Wells hit a walk-off solo home run in the seventh inning after Arkansas-Monticello scored three runs to tie the game at 7-all in the top of the frame.
The Bison took last Saturday’s opener 8-1 and won the nightcap 7-5.
In the Game 1 win, Wells went 2-for-2 with two solo homers, her ninth and 10th roundtrippers of the season, and two stolen bases.
In the Feb. 21 Game 1 victory over UAM, Wells was hitless but reached base four times as she was walked three times and was hit by a pitch. She did have a run batted in.
In the Feb. 21 Game 2 win over UAM, Wells singled with an RBI.
Last Friday, the Bison beat SWOSU 8-5, then took both games last Saturday by scores of 3-0 and 8-7.
In the series opener with SWOSU, Wells hit her 11th homer.
In Saturday’s opener, Wells went 2-for-3 with her 12th round-tripper and two RBIs, while going hitless in four at-bats in the nightcap.
The Bison (18-2) will return to action with a three-game home series with East Central University, with a single game at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader at noon Saturday.
