By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Vian High School basketball teams saw their seasons end last week at the Class 2A Regional Tournament, which took place last Thursday night at Hartshorne Event Center and at Haskell on Friday and Saturday.

For the third straight time, the Wolverines came up short against the Central Tigers, who prevailed 60-51 in the Class 2A Regional Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Haskell after staving off elimination Thursday night in Hartshorne by whipping the Haskell Haymakers 82-47 and staying alive Friday with a 66-55 victory over Morrison.

The Wolverines ended the season at 14-10.

The Lady Wolverines got their second win of the season as they won Thursday night’s Class 2A Regional Tournament consolation quarterfinal game 52-46 over Haskell at Hartshorne before being eliminated 48-27 by Pawnee in the consolation semifinals on Friday in Haskell.

Vian’s largest lead was at 42 points when Isaiah Owens hit a basket with 2:52 left to play to put the Wolverines ahead 82-40.
