VCF donates $178,000 for new playground
By LYNDSEY SULLIVAN SPECIAL TO THE NEWS,

At Vian Elementary School

Vian Elementary School is pleased to announce the generous donation of $178,000 from the Vian Community Foundation (VCF) towards the development of a brand new playground. This significant contribution will greatly enhance the outdoor recreational area for students, providing them with a safe and engaging space for physical activity and play.

The VCF, known for its commitment to supporting local initiatives, has recognized the importance of promoting the well-being and development of young learners. With their remarkable donation, the foundation has demonstrated its dedication to fostering an environment that encourages active and healthy lifestyles among the youth of our community.

The funds donated by the VCF, in partnership with Vian Public Schools will be utilized to create an exceptional playground experience for students. The project includes the installation of a state-ofthe- art turf space, which will provide a safe and resilient surface for various activities. Additionally, the playground will feature modern and ageappropriate equipment that will inspire imaginations and encourage physical fitness.

Principal Kathy Wingo expressed her gratitude for the partnership.

“The administration, faculty and staff of Vian Elementary are excited to partner with the Vian Community Foundation on this much needed project. We can create much more together than either of us could achieve alone, and our children are the beneficiaries of this generosity and collaboration.

“This generous donation will provide our students with an exceptional outdoor space where they can engage in healthy physical activity, develop their social skills, and create lasting memories,” Wingo said.

The foundation plans to continue their dedication to the youth of Vian Public Schools with future projects, as well.

The new playground at Vian Elementary will not only benefit the students during school hours, but it will also serve as a recreational hub for the wider community. The accessibility and quality of the playground will make it an inviting space for families and residents of all ages to enjoy.

The Vian Elementary School community is excitedly anticipating the completion of the new playground project, which is expected to be unveiled in May 2024.

The school extends its deepest appreciation to the VCF for their unwavering support and commitment to the education and well-being of their students.
