A two-vehicle collision that happened on June 10 on the Muskogee Turnpike resulted in a Park Hill man being transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Danny Upton #623 of the Muskogee Turnpike/ Troop XB reported the accident happened just before 3 p.m. about 4.8 miles west of Coweta.
Upton said both Jordan Jorgenson, 34, of Muskogee, and Jamie Thompson, 65, of Park Hill, were both traveling eastbound in the outside lane when the accident occurred.
The trooper said Jorgenson’s vehicle, a 2011 Lincoln MKX, was having mechanical issues which caused her to briefly pull to the shoulder. He said when she attempted to reenter traffic the vehicle stalled, which caused traffic to enter the inside lane.
Jorgenson was trying to avoid traffic in the outside lane and attempted to make a lane change to the inside when she struck Thompson’s 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 as he was trying to avoid hitting the Lincoln.
After impact, Thompson reportedly departed the roadway to the left and struck a concrete barrier wall before traveling across the roadway, departing to the right and rolling one and one-quarter times, coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Thompson was transported by Coweta EMS to Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee, and then transferred to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external, and arm injuries.
His passenger, Jennifer Thompson, 60, also of Park Hill, refused treatment at the scene for an arm injury, according to the accident report.
Jorgenson was uninjured, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation as of press time.
