Gore’s Board of Trustees addressed several items crucial to community development and maintenance during its regular monthly meeting on June 18.
The proceedings began with the unanimous approval of the resignations of Travis Dickerson and Shawn Fullen.
The board then deliberated on a contract with Holloway, Updike and Bellen for engineering and bidding services related to the Haven Heights Overlay Project.
Rennie Ohl provided input regarding runoff management in the project area, urging engineers to consider effective solutions. Following discussion, Trustee Joni Couch motioned to approve the contract, which was seconded by Trustee Randy Foley and unanimously supported by the board.
The board approved hiring Robert St. Pierre, C.P.A., P.C. for the 2023-24 Fiscal Year Audit, and also endorsed the 2024-25 Escrow Form to reduce premiums, demonstrating a proactive approach to financial oversight.
In a brief but decisive moment, Mayor Robin Henry proposed no action on the surplus of an H & K MP5, which was supported and agreed upon unanimously by the rest of the board members.
Looking ahead, the board allocated $1,000 towards advertising for the upcoming Fall Cruise Night scheduled for September 21.
During the Town Clerk’s report, Lisa Settlemyre updated the board on ongoing efforts to secure the 2025 SAFE grant for the police department and announced plans to organize a Movie in the Park event in the coming months.
The meeting concluded with the highlighting of recent activities and accomplishments within the police and fire departments. Notably, the police department collected $4,728.90 in citation payments during May, underscoring their active enforcement efforts, while the fire department reported 27 total calls since the last meeting.
During the Gore Public Works Authority (GPWA) meeting, GPWA Administrator Jeremy Lane reported a 25 percent water loss for the town for the previous month, and said the town would be spraying for mosquitoes every Thursday.
