Former Vian Lady WFormer Vian Lady Wolverine wrestler Taya Hunt got a pinfall victory in a 47-6 home dual win against the Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Lady Mavericks last Saturday night in Tonkawa.
Hunt, wrestling at 145 pounds, pinned NOCTonkawa’s Miah Kenny in 2:04.
Of the 11 matches competed, the Lady Vikings (1-1) won 10 of them, with one forfeit for Jessina Smith at 207 pounds.
Of the other nine wins, Amaya Rubalcado (117 pounds), Laila Mirza (124), Sam Marakwardt (131), Margret Jordan (160) and Izzy Pack (180) all won by pinfalls.
Call Connolly (103 pounds), Abigail Butts (110) and Alondra Valles (138) got technical fall victories.
The Lady Vikings lost their first dual of the season, 28-20 to Indian Hills, Iowa, on Nov. 8 at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the CASC-Poteau campus.
While Hunt did not wrestle in that dual, the Lady Vikings got technical fall wins by Butts at 116 pounds and Olivia Sandoval at 136.
Connolly (101 pounds) won her match by a 4-3 decision, while heavyweight Gabby Watson beat her opponent 5-0.
Markwardt won her 130-pound match by forfeit.
The Lady Vikings will return to action in the Missouri Valley Open, which is taking place this Friday and Saturday in Marshall, Mo.
