ATOKA — Several local track individuals and the Central Tigers’ 1,600-meter relay team all won regional titles at Saturday’s Class 2A Regional Meet at Phillips Field.
Vian’s Ethan Bullock won the high jump (5-11), Gore’s Weston Cunningham won the 110-meter hurdles (16.06 seconds), Central’s Alyvia Warner won the 300-meter hurdles (49.24), Central’s Braxin Goodson won the 300-meter hurdles (41.41) and Central’s Charlie Petree won the shot put (36-9).
The Tigers’ 1,600-meter relay team of Gavin Randolph, Noah Buzzard, Dillon Miller and Goodson took the gold medal with a winning time of 3:33.5.
Other local athletes also earned automatic state berths for this weekend’s Class 2A State Meet, which will be Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City Western Heights High School.
Mannon was runnerup in the 300-meter hurdles (42.14 seconds), Gore’s Trenton Cunningham was third in the 110-meter hurdles (17.2), Randolph was third in the 400-meter dash (52.38 seconds), Buzzard was third in the 800-meter run (2:11.79) and Central’s Cole Holcomb was third in the shot put (43-7).
Several local individuals and relay teams were waiting word Monday afternoon if they had done well enough as a fourth-, fifth-, sixth- and seventh-place finisher in Saturday’s regional meet to get atlarge bids to state.
For the Lady Wolverines, Blazi Dieter was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:46.35).
For the Pirates, Mannon was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (18.11 seconds), while Weston Cunningham was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (43.83).
For the Tigers, Goodson was fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.94 seconds), while the Tigers’ the 800-meter relay team of Buzzard, Jake Woods, Randolph and Goodson was seventh (1:36.59).
For the Lady Tigers, Cambree Bair was fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.43). The 800-meter relay team was fourth (1:55.47), the 1,600-meter relay team was fourth (4:23.36) and the 3,200-meter relay team was fifth (11:16.05).
As for other local boys’ results, Trenton Cunningham was ninth in the 300-meter hurdles (45.75 seconds), while Weston Cunningham was 10th (24.57), Gore’s Cole Brooksher was 12th (24.6), Bullock was 14th (24.7), Gore’s Gabe Hefley was 19th (25.12) and Central’s Brycen Chandler- Eisman was 30th (26.86) in the 200-meter dash.
Gore’s Antonio Parker was ninth in the shot put (36-8), while Parker was 10th (92-5) and teammate Marcus Scott was 14th (86-10) in the discus.
Henley was 15th (58.53 seconds), Central’s Jake Woods was 16th (58.65 seconds), Central’s Aiden Cawhorn was 19th (58.87), Trenton Cunningham was 20th (59.02), Vian’s Braxton Drake was 32nd (1:03.14), Vian’s Rickey Wolfe was 34th (1:03.8) and Gore’s Landyn Johnson was 40th (1:09.35) in the 400-meter dash. Johnson was 35th in the 800-meter run (2:47.43).
Bullock was 20th (12.2 seconds), Brooksher was 21st (12.23), Cawhorn was 31st (12.78) and Chandler-Eisman was 33rd (12.94) in the 100-meter dash.
As for other local girls’ results, Warner was eighth (18.79 seconds) and Vian’s Kylie Covie was 18th (28.9) in the 100-meter hurdles, while Central’s Kaitlin Clark was eighth (13.83 seconds), Gore’s Emily Daily was 11th (14.29), Central’s Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 14th (14.37), Vian’s Annie Neal was 16th (14.44), Central’s Gracie Thompson was 29th (14.94) and Gore’s Sophie O’Connor was 31st (15.26) in the 100-meter dash.
Petree was ninth in the discus (88-6), while Clark was ninth (29.24 seconds), Gore’s Amelia White was 10th (29.44), Daily was 12th (29.7), Central’s Kinly Lovell was 21st (30.5), Thompson was 26th (30.9) and O’Connor was 37th (33.44) in the 200-meter dash.
In the 800-meter run, Central’s Ryleigh Pierce was 11th (2:53.22), White was 12th (2:53.77), Vian’s Carmen Rautenberg was 18th (3:00.63) and Central’s Xhayla Mosby was 24th (3:05.91) in the 800-meter run, while White was 14th in the 400-meter dash (1:09.53).
Central had three placers in the 1,600-meter run — Scarlett Harrison was 14th (6:54.4), Mosby 17th (7:01.8) and Rileigh Ford was 18th (7:17.51) — while Vian’s Emery Smith was 14th (28-11) and Gore’s River Shoemake was 22nd (275) in the shot put.
In the point standings, the Tigers were sixth with 50 points, followed by the Pirates tying the Pocola Indians for 10th (28 points) and the Wolverines in 13th place with 10 points — complements of Bullock’s regional high jump title.
In the girls’ standings, the Lady Tigers were seventh with 42 points.
