Memorial service for Buck Newton, 73, of Vian, was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Newton was born on Sept. 17, 1952, in Dover, Ark., to Rosa B. (Bohannon) Newton and Hanford Garland Newton. He died on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, in Oklahoma City.
He married Cheryl (Cannon) Newton, on June 23, 1978, in Shawnee.
He worked as an orientation supervisor at Exxon Mobile before retiring, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sallisaw.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Melissa A. Newton of Shawnee; son, Michael P. Newton and Kayla Murphy of Washington, Okla.; two sisters, Kay Wallace of Sallisaw and Sherry Sossamon and Dub of Owasso; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Hamburg; and nephew, Jeff Stiles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Sallisaw First Presbyterian Church for the Blessing Box.
