It was a rough end to last week’s softball action for former Vian Lady Wolverine Kala Gibbins and the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings as they lost all four games in the Firelake JUCO Classic, which took place Friday and Saturday at the Ballfields at Firelake in Shawnee.
On Friday, the Lady Vikings lost 10-0 to Seminole State College in five innings and fell 8-0 to fellow former Lady Wolverine Maisie Wells’ Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers 8-0 in five innings.
On Saturday, the Lady Vikings lost 7-5 to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid and 6-4 to Rose State College.
The week began with a sweep of Central Baptist College on Feb. 24 in Poteau.
In the loss to Seminole State, Gibbins was hitless in two at-bats, while getting a single against Eastern Oklahoma State College.
In the loss to NOCEnid, Gibbins singled with a run batted in, while going hitless in four at-bats against Rose State College.
In the opener against Central Baptist College, Gibbins was hitless in three at-bats but scored a run, while she singled and scored twice in the nightcap.
The Lady Vikings (4-6), losers of four straight, were scheduled to face NOC-Enid in a Tuesday doubleheader in Enid before facing Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa in a road twinbill at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tonkawa.
