Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers enjoyed a perfect 4-0 last week on the diamond.
The Lady Mountaineers swept a road doubleheader from former Muldrow Lady Bulldog Danica Tune and the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Lady Norse by scores of 7-0 and 6-3 on March 10 at Eric Iverson Field in Miami, Okla.
To end the perfect week, the Lady Mountaineers swept a home twinbill from Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa by scores of 9-3 and 11-1 — the latter a five-inning, runrule victory — on Saturday in Wilburton to run their winning streak to seven games.
Against NEO, Wells was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in and a run scored in the opener, while going hitless in one at-bat with a sacrifice fly for an RBI.
Against NOCTonkawa, Wells was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in Game 1, while hitting a double, scoring twice and driving in a run in Game 2.
The Lady Mountaineers (17-5) will be idle until a road doubleheader against archrival Carl Albert State College, with former Vian Lady Wolverine Kala Gibbins, at 1 p.m. Tuesday before a pair of road twinbills to end the week — a 2 p.m. Thursday doubleheader against Rose State and a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.
