CASC softball team sweeps NE Texas, SE Arkansas, splits with SAU Tech
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kala Gibbins and the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings enjoyed a 5-1 Spring Break road trip last week.

The road trip started with a road sweep against Northeast Texas Community College by scores off 6-2 and 5-4 on March 16 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Last Friday in Pine Bluff, Ark., the Lady Vikings got their second road sweep of the week as they took two games from Southeast Arkansas College by scores of 5-0 and 16-14.

To end the week last Saturday in East Camden, Ark., the Lady Vikings split their road doubleheader against Southern Arkansas University Tech as they took the opener 6-2 before losing the nightcap 10-9. In the twinbill against Northeast Texas, Gibbins went hitless in four at-bats during the two games combined.

In the opener against Southeast Arkansas, Gibbins went hitless, while she did not play in the nightcap. She also did not play in either game against SAU Tech.

The Lady Vikings (13-11) will have a busy week this week with three sets of doubleheaders.

Gibbins and the Lady Vikings were slated to meet the archrival Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers and former Vian player Maisie Wells on Tuesday afternoon in Wilburton, then have two sets of home twinbills — at 1 p.m. Friday against National Park College and at 1 p.m. Saturday against Arkansas State University-Three Rivers.

The Lady Vikings will continue their homestand at 1 p.m. next Tuesday with a doubleheader against Arkansas-Rich Mountain.
