Jesus Christ – Perfect Sacrifice for Sin

Jesus Christ – Perfect Sacrifice for Sin
By Shirley R. Watts,

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit” (Matt. 27:50) “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,” (II Cor. 5:20-21). Before the Fall Adam possessed powers of understanding and reason, and was able to communicate with God. Adam was without sin, enjoyed fellowship with God. Adam was to exercise dominion and enjoy the fruits of the garden. Why would Adam forfeit all?

Choices

What was the test? Adam and Eve had everything. God had prepared a beautiful and perfect garden. They walked with Him daily in “spiritual” fellowship. The test was about obedience to God. Adam had the choice! They walked with God daily and had the choice between obedience and disobedience. It was a beautiful and perfect day as they walked in the Garden. In a very short time, the day would end… “deadly.” Satan disguised himself as a serpent and approached Eve about the forbidden tree.

“Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Gen. 2:16-17). This was the test.

Deception

“Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” Eve told him but, “God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” Satan’s reply: “You will not surely die.”

Satan convinced Eve that he would put no restrictions on them as God had done. He said God is wrong. Restrictions are not good. Have you heard this before? Do you read God’s Word and know what He has restricted us from?

Eve “took of its fruit and ate…Deceived! She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate” (Gen 3:6-7.) Disobedient! Adam and Eve had the choice. They failed the test…all will suffer the consequences. The moment Adam took of the fruit, he led mankind down a deadly path. We all died spiritually. God judged them, put them out of the beautiful garden. Spiritual death! Did God turn His back on us? No! His love was working His plan. How would He bring us back to Himself? He would provide the one and only perfect blood sacrifice…His only Son. Jesus volunteered to die in our place as individuals.

Jesus

“We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (II Cor. 5:20-21).

When we take the time to think about the price for that “fruit,” we should feel so ashamed. Are we much like Adam and Eve? How many times have we listened to a lie? Today, it seems as though “lies” are the way to go. Many pay more attention to what the devil says than to what God says in His Word. Man loves the sign “no restrictions on sin.” But one day, unless you repent you too will be put out of God’s sight for all eternity. Satan says, disobey, “you will not die!” Praise God

God put them out of the Garden. Sin began to reign. We should thank God for putting them out, for if He had not, we would just die. There would have been no cross, no resurrection or life with God.

Let us pray

Father in Heaven, we thank You, for Your love. You are the Great, Mighty, Awesome, Loving, Merciful, Powerful and Just God. There is none like You. I personally love You and praise You. Father, may I live my life to glorify you as I walk with you daily. Father, may I stay focused on Your will, just as Jesus did. May I not listen to the lies of Satan. Thank You for sending Your Son to die in my place. It was a high price. Thank You Jesus, for Your obedience. Thank You for taking out time from Heaven to come here to die for our sin and making it possible to experience that beautiful spiritual walk. I ask all in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
