The 2026 slow-pitch softball season came to a close for the Vian Lady Wolverines at last Thursday’s Class 4A District Tournament as they lost 2-1 to Beggs and 11-1 to district-host Warner.
The Lady Wolverines ended the regular season with a 7-5 home loss to Cameron on April 21 at Armstrong Park. The second game of the scheduled threeway for that day against Panama was canceled. Also, there was no more information reported by press time on the April 20 road game at Morris.
In the loss to Cameron, the Lady Yellowjackets used a five-run seventh inning to get the come-from-behind win.
In defeat, Leila Cheater was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Tressa Sandlin doubled for the Lady Wolverines (8-18). Rayleigh Terrill (8-18) took the loss.
In the district-tournament loss to Beggs, after the Lady Wolverines (8-18) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, the Lady Golden Demons scored twice in the fifth inning for a 2-1 lead.
In defeat, Terrill was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while LaKoeta Cheater was 2-for-3 for Vian. Terrill (8-18) took the loss.
In the season-ending loss to Warner, the Lady Eagles scored once in the first inning, four runs in the third inning, twice in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning for a 10-0 lead. Vian’s lone run scored in the fifth inning.
In defeat, LaKoeta Cheater singled and scored Vian’s only run, while Kaidence Roark, Halli Russell, Tressa Sandlin and Leila Cheater each singled for Vian.
