2Thessalonians 2:10-12 “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” The Bible speaks of unrighteousness many times and gives many examples of it. The word unrighteousness is used four times in the Old Testament and 16 times in the New Testament.
Leveticus 19:15 “Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.”
The Old Testament is primarily concerned about unrighteousness in Judgment. It warns the kings, and rulers “the courts” to respect no man. It tells them that their judgment should not be biased toward or against anyone, but the acts and facts should be applied equally according to the Law. The Law is the point of comparison that either exonerates or condemns the person being judged.
Today, I think we need to take a hard look at our judicial system. It is not the law that judges, but it is the Judges. We have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights that are being ignored by the closely held “beliefs” of the judges over our courts. The lawmakers are supposed to make laws and the judiciary is supposed to administer those laws fairly. Now we have judges that regularily set aside laws because they do not fit in their preconceived brliefs. This is exactly the warnings given from God to the governing men of Israel. It is also the precepts that govern all free peoples and nations…but sadly this is no longer happening.
Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;” The New Testament speaks as if unrighteousness in an internal “spiritual” problem that needs to be irradicated. Like our opening verse, this seems to be centered around not believing the Truth when you hear it. I am continually awed by the foolishness of man.
I started out as a young preacher with much to learn. I chose men to study from that had a great, proven track record. I studies men that had fought their fight like the Apostle Paul did. He fought to the end of his life. His testamony can no longer change like many in this world who start off well and end up falling back into the world’s way of doing things. I would and maybe should make you a list of those true men of God who sacrificed their lives for the spreading of the Gospel of Christ.
During the 1800’s men desired to teach other men the Truth of the Gospel so that more might be saved from the wrath to come. Then somehow it magically became the Preacher’s job, or at least an Evangelist or Missionary’s job. The common man still had the truth, but he didn’t share it any more.
Some wiley rascal told them that Jesus only send the Apostles out with the Gospel when he spoke in Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
This same wiley rascal convinced them that “lifestyle” evangelism was what was needed. My friend, Paul tells us that “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17) Lyfestyle evangelist convinced men and women that all you had to is act like a Christian and people would see and be saved. Foolish, foolish people.
The Word of God is clearly worded about salvation and how to be saved. What God needs is a pair of legs to carry it to others! In this world people have too much pleasure in unrighteousness to even think of God. That is where Christians come in. We are the delivery system for the Word of God to reach those who are lost in the pleasures of sin. It is up to us to remind them that there is always a snake in Eden and it will destroy us in time.
Luke 10:2 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
He was talking about souls, not wheat. We all need to be concerned about our relatives, our friends, our neighbors, or anyone that we might come in contact with. If you are saved today, pass it on!
