Rowan makes transition to Oklahoma weather
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

Heather Rowan said she might have grown up in California, but she considers Sequoyah County her home.

Rowan, 34, said when she first moved to Oklahoma she settled in Cowlington in LeFlore county, but now lives north of Vian.

She said she and her boyfriend, Bill Mack White, enjoy spending time outdoors with her three children, Johnny, age 14, Joey aka Bubba, age 3, and 1-year-old Jackson, aka Captain Jack.

“The weather in Oklahoma is much heavier than the air in California,” Rowan said. “And the humidity here is crazy but I’m learning to deal with it.”

“On my days off, I spend all my time with my kids,” she said. “We play outside and in the water, and we love going to the splash pad. We love our little family and we love living in Sequoyah County.”

She said this is also her second time working for Walmart in Sallisaw.

“I was employed at Walmart 15 years ago,” she said. “Now, I’m working in the bakery here in Sallisaw. I’ve been here for about four months and I love it.”

While working in the bakery, she said she also helps out in the deli, multi-tasking several different duties behind the scenes.

“I love working at the bakery because I get to be on the floor, and I get to talk to customers and see how excited they are after they get their cakes made,” she said.

“But I also help out wherever I’m needed,” she said. “I help with cooking in the deli, stocking, and also help with the cookies and cupcakes. I just jump in where I’m needed and I don’tminddoingthework.”
