Gore Trustees accept vice mayor’s resignation
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

The Town of Gore Board of Trustees moved through a full agenda during its April 21 regular meeting, highlighted by the acceptance of Vice Mayor Larry Pack’s resignation and several key personnel and policy decisions.

Mayor Robin Henry called the meeting to order at 6 p.m., with trustees Matt Holland, Joni Couch and Randy Foley present. Pack was reportedly absent from the meeting.

In unanimous action, the board accepted Pack’s resignation, creating a vacancy in town leadership. Trustees also approved a series of administrative appointments and staffing adjustments aimed at maintaining operations.

Among those changes, Chad Chance was assigned the duties of court clerk at an hourly rate of $19.

Bethany Dotson was appointed interim town clerk and granted a $4 per hour pay increase, while Penney Morton was approved as deputy clerk.

The board also voted to remove Lisa Settlemyre from all town bank accounts and credit cards.

In other business, trustees approved a new workplace continuing education and conduct policy and entered into an interlocal cooperation agreement with the Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s Department for dispatch equipment.

Public safety staffing was also addressed. Ivy Toney and Nick Eklund were appointed to the Gore Volunteer Fire Department. Additionally, trustees approved a new police pay scale and incentive structure, setting hourly wages between $19 and $23.50 based on experience and credentials, along with a 3% annual performance-based raise in place of a cost-of-living adjustment.

Holland was appointfrom ed to serve on the East Central Oklahoma Gas Authority Board.

Routine items including minutes from prior meetings, financial reports and purchase orders were approved, with Holland abstaining from those votes.

In her mayor’s report, Henry said park architects are expected within two weeks to present final draft plans for park improvements. She also noted ongoing efforts to have Gore designated as a Purple Heart City.

Police Chief statistics for the month included 46 calls, 71 traffic stops, 37 warnings, six citations, two arrests, four agency assists and 25 reports.

The fire department reported 37 total calls, including seven brush or grass fires, three motor vehicle accidents, 18 medical calls, two structure fires and various other service calls.

Immediately following, the Gore Public Works Authority (GPWA) convened its regular meeting, approving routine items and also voting to remove Settlemyre from all GPWA financial accounts. Trustees again accepted Pack’s resignation in his GPWA role.

GPWA Administrator Jeremy Lane reported 17 utility locates, 20 work orders, three water leaks and two sewer line jettings, adding that all new water meters have now been installed.

The meetings adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
