Are You a Channel of God’s Blessing
commentary, Devotional
August 2, 2023
Are You a Channel of God’s Blessing
By Shirley R. Watts,

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.” “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalms 1:1-3).

How can you be a “channel” of God’s blessing?

“Channel” is a means of communication, “A bed where a natural stream of water runs.”

You must be born again from God above in Jesus Christ. You surrender your life to Him and dedicate it to being a “channel” of God’s blessing to others. Obedience to God is the way one becomes a powerful means of communication of His blessing to others.

The Christian must study God’s Word. This is the only way to know God and what He has called us to do. Only then, are we able to be a “channel” for which God’s blessing will flow into the world.

We are to be a separated people, “who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.” We do not “stand in the path of sinners, We do not sit “in the seat of the scornful” (Ps. 1).

We are in this world, but are not of this world…amen! We have overcome in Jesus Christ! (I John 5:5). We each are called to be a “channel.”

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:15-17).

We have a “natural stream of Water” that runs deeper than any river. We can be a clean and clear “channel” of God’s blessing to others.

The study of God’s Word with humble prayer and faith will keep us separated from the ways of an ungodly world.

The “world” is the life style outside of Jesus Christ! The world lives in disobedience to God! The world lives in sin! The world denies the Cross of Christ and hates the authority of God and hates the Christian.

“And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:17).

When we are in the will of God, then we are a “channel” for God’s blessing to flow through.

What a beautiful sight when God’s people allow His Word to flow through us into this dark cold and evil world.

We must delight in His Word, meditating on it. He works through us and reaches others.

Do you express faith? Do you love the Lord Jesus Christ above all? Are you in His Word? Do you live His Word? Do you have a dedicated prayer life? Do you listen when God speaks to you through His Word? If the above questions are …yes! You are a special “channel” of God’s blessing.

Just to rise up daily is a special blessing! It is another opportunity and a privilege to be a “channel” of His blessing. He is so good to us!

What a joy to be a Christian in the service of our Lord. I love the Lord. Our joy is a blessing to others…let it flow!

Let’s stop right now and praise Him!

The Christians are pictures of beautiful, fruitful trees drawing life from Jesus Christ. We are planted here to be a people of God living and loving, being a “channel” of God’s blessing to others.

Christians are “living trees.” We have a hidden and powerful “root system” drawing our nourishment from Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

It is all about abiding in Christ. We must not ignore the “root system” for if you do you will begin to wither and will not be a “channel” of God’s blessing.

Are you a “channel” of God’s blessing to others?

Let us be faithful, loving Him, loving His Word, praying constantly and seeking to be a clean and clear “channel” of His blessing.

Beautiful, fruitful trees needed!
