She died on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, in Fort Smith, Ark.

She was married to Hobert Ray “Hobie” Jones on May 22, 1971, in Sallisaw. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2023.

She was a 1968 graduate of Sallisaw High School. She received her nursing degree in May 1971. She was a nurse for St. Edward’s, Sequoyah Memorial Hospital, Dr. Herndon, Dr. Nowlin and Medical Home Health. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors are one daughter, Jennifer Jones of Sallisaw; two sons, Stephen Jones and Nikki, and Daryl Jones, all of Sallisaw; her grandchildren; one great grandchild and one on the way; two sisters, Mary Beth and Roy Fair, and Sherri Richardson, all of Sallisaw; and other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers were Stephen Jones, Daryl Jones, Michael Jones, Cody Jones, D.J. Jones, Jason Hill and Shelton Fair.

Honorary pallbearers were Ross Blythe, Jackie Wheeler and Roy Fair.

Sallisaw – Graveside services for Janet Lea (Richardson) Jones, 72, of Sallisaw, were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mrs. Jones was born on Oct. 8, 1950, in Sallisaw, to Willie Doris (Roberts) Richardson and Shelby Roy Richardson.
