Webbers Falls Lady Warriors lost games to Central, Porum on Thursday
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

After being rained out Sept. 12

The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors lost both games in their road three-way Thursday at Porum, losing 15-3 to Central and 16-3 to Porum.

The Lady Warriors had their road game at Keota rained out Sept. 12. Webbers Falls coach Kera Carter said the game likely won’t be rescheduled.

In Thursday’s loss to Central, the Lady Warriors (1-12) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Central error that allowed Taralynn Colston and Bridgette Baer to score for a 2-0 lead.

However, from there, it was all Lady Tigers as they scored once in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for a 7-2 lead after two innings. An eight-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Avery Warner was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI, Ayrland Jiles was 2-for-2 with a triple, four Rbis and two runs scored, Kallie Henning was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, Rylee Rowland was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, Brianna Taylor doubled with two RBIs and a run scored and Allie Harris tripled with two RBIs for Central. Jiles got the win, striking out three batters in three innings and throwing a twohitter.

In defeat, Bentley Ward and Lextyn Chappell each singled, while Baer scored twice and Colston once for Webbers Falls. Maddie Raskey took the loss, although she had a strikeout in 2.2 innings.

In Thursday’s loss to host Porum, the Lady Warriors, just like against Central, took a 2-0 lead on a Porum error that allowed Colston and Baer to score.

However, from there, it was all Porum as the Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the second inning for a 10-2 lead after two innings. A six-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Raskey and Karla Bonilla each singled for Webbers Falls, while Baer scored twice and Colston once for Webbers Falls. Raskey took the loss, but she did record a strikeout in 2.1 innings.

The Lady Warriors will begin postseason play on Thursday in the Class A District Tournament at Weleetka with Empire. Webbers Falls and Weleetka will play at 10 a.m., with the loser playing Empire at noon. The Webbers Falls-Weleetka winner will play Empire at 2 p.m. The district tournament title game will be at 4 p.m., with the if-game at 6 p.m.
