Trustees table agreement, approve cleanup
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

In August, September monthly meetings; Abbott hired as new town attorney

The Vian Board of Trustees voted to table an agreement between the town and MC Nutrition Services during their regular monthly meeting on Sept. 18.

The agenda item was also tabled during July and August’s meetings, according to meeting minutes.

Fall cleanup days were approved for Oct. 17 and 18, for residential customers only. Town Administrator Keith Boshers said most items would be picked up, but there would be some exceptions. Anyone wanting to know if a questionable item can be picked up is asked to contact Town Hall at 918-773-8110.

The trustees also granted Aaron Heflin permission to use the Armstrong Park Amphitheater on Nov. 18, along with approving variance 2023-001 for the “South 45 feet of Lot 2, Block 45 Original Town of Vian” for the partial encroachment by the metal shop building upon the alleyway on the east side of the property.

Also approved was the transfer of funds for $135,479.95 from the Town of Vian Street Savings account to a Town of Vian Street Money Managers account at Armstrong Bank; and the fulltime employment of Kenny Graham.

The police, and street and parks reports were all approved but the fire report, regarding fire runs, firefighter attendance, water usage and the budget report, was tabled by the trustees.

During the public works authority meeting, the trustees voted to approve the transfer of funds of $106,808.41 from the VPWA Water/Wastewater savings account to the VPWA Water/Wastewater Money Managers account at Armstrong Bank.

August meeting

During their regular monthly meeting on August 21, the trustees unanimously approved the employment of James Ponticelli as a town employee; and accepted the resignation of Vian Police officer Amber Rigsby.

After town attorney Larry Vickers’ resignation was formally accepted, the trustees voted to retain Teddy Abbott as the new town attorney.

This news story is based on the unofficial minutes from the board meetings and could be in error if the minutes are changed prior to adoption.
