Former Vian softball player, EOSC Lady Mountaineers go 3-5 last week

Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Greenlee Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers went 3-5 last week, ending the week at 3-1 at the Drury (Mo.) JUCO Jam in Springfield, Mo., after being swept Feb. 27 by Paris (Texas) Community College and Thursday afternoon at Crowder College in Neosho, Mo.

On Friday at the Drury JUCO Jam, the Lady Mountaineers (10-8) blanked Allen County (Kan.) Community College 10-0 and defeated State Fair Community College 13-8 where Wells went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in against Allen County and went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored.

On Saturday at the Drury JUCO Jam, EOSC run-ruled Southeastern Community College 9-1 but lost a heartbreaking 7-6 game to Neosho County (Kan.) Community College.

In the win over Southeastern Community College, Wells was 1-for-2 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored, while hitting a solo homer in the loss to Neosho County.

Wells and the Lady Mountaineers suffered a pair of losses to Paris Junior College by scores of 6-3 and 7-1 on Feb. 27.

In the opener, Wells was 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, while going 1-for-3 in the nightcap for the Lady Mountaineers.

On Thursday, the Lady Mountaineers were swept by Crowder College by scores of 8-0 and 11-1, both games ending by run rule in five innings.

In the opener, Wells went hitless in two atbats, while doubling twice in the nightcap.

Through 18 games, Wells is batting .491 with six doubles, 11 homers, 28 RBI and 23 runs scored.

After the Lady Mountaineers entertained Murray State College on Tuesday, they will play a 2 p.m. Thursday road doubleheader against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa and then return home for a 2 p.m. home twinbill against Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College in Wilburton.
