Former Vian softball player helps EOSC Lady Mountaineers to sweeps of CASC, NOC-Enid
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

Former Vian Lady Wolverine softball player Greenlee Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers got two sweeps last week.

The Lady Mountaineers swept Carl Albert by scores of 11-3 and 3-0 on March 12 in Poteau, then they took two games from Northern Oklahoma College-Enid by scores of 17-3 and 12-4 on Saturday in Enid.

EOSC’s home doubleheader against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M was rained out Thursday. No make-up date has been set for the twinbill with NEO.

In the first win over CASC, the Lady Mountaineers (16-8) broke a 2-all tie with a single run in the second inning and four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good at 7-2 after three innings.

Wells, who was named the Region II Player of the Week for the second straight week last week, was 2-for-4 with a run batted in.

In the Game 2 win over CASC, the Lady Vikings were one-hit by Eastern Oklahoma State College pitcher Macken-zie Martin, who struck out 10 CASC batters.

Wells singled with two RBIs for the Lady Mountaineers.

In the Game 1 victory over NOC-Enid, the Lady Mountaineers scored four runs in the first inning and once in the second inning for a 5-0 lead. A pair of six-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings put the game into run-rule status.

Wells was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

In the second game victory over NOC-Enid, the Lady Mountaineers rallied from a 3-2 fourthinning deficit with a sixrun fifth inning and a pair two-run innings in the sixth and seventh innings.

Wells was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Through 24 games, Wells is batting .520 with seven doubles, 15 homers, 41 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

The Lady Mountaineers will not return to action until a home doubleheader against Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Wilburton, then they travel for a road twinbill against Paris (Texas) Junior College at 1 p.m. March 26.
