The Gore Lady Pirates slow-pitch softball team was 5-8 last spring, and this spring season will see a lot of youth on the field for coach Michael Randolph.
Three players are back from the 2023 slow-pitch season — junior Peyton Curran (.680 batting average last spring), junior Kendra Huckbay (.324) and sophomore Emily Daily (.462).
Two other promising players are freshmen — third baseman River Shoemake and second baseman Sophie O’Connor.
The rest of the roster is comprised of Keira Rowe, Kennedy Williams, Adrian Summerlin, Peyton Garrison, Victoria Scott, Paige Curran and Cheyenne Davidson.
“We are going to be a very young team this season,” Randolph said. “We only have three upperclassmen, and everyone else is freshman and sophomores. As a whole, these girls hit the ball really well and are very hard workers. I fully expect us to come out this year and compete and win ball games. Paige Curran is our senior who will be leading these girls on the field. She missed all of her junior season due to an injury. These girls are a great group of young ladies with a lot of heart and love for the game.”
