Webbers Falls Warriors drop Spring Break games to Howe, Gore
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

Other games rained out, canceled

The Webbers Falls Warriors baseball team had a rough Spring Break as they lost both of their games last week — 8-7 to the Howe Lions on March 18 in Howe and 11-3 to Gore on March 19 in Muldrow.

Friday’s home game against Arkoma was rained out Friday and Saturday’s road threeway with Haskell at Cameron was canceled.

In the loss to Howe, the Lions walked it off with a single run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 7-all tie.

In defeat, Hayden Stephens was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, while Elliott Kunkel hit a solo home run and scored twice for the Warriors (4-3), who saw their two-game winning streak end.

Blake Rowe (0-1) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 1.1 innings with two strikeouts but giving up the game-winning run. Ben Ward started, went the first 2.1 innings with five Ks. Luke Pierce went the next 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.

In the loss to Gore, Gore pitcher Tate Brooksher got the complete, four-inning game victory as he struck out nine batters and threw a four-hitter.

With the Warriors leading 3-1 in the second inning, the Pirates took the lead for good with a three-run second inning for a 4-3 lead. Then, a six-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Gunner Shelby singled and scored once, Gunner Carey and Kunkel each scored a run and Stephens, Rowe and Ward all singled for Webbers Falls.

Ward (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going the first 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. Ryan Cowan got the game’s final out.

After entertaining Okay on Monday afternoon and Bokoshe on Tuesday afternoon, the Warriors will put on their own threeday tournament from Thursday through Saturday.
