Jim Olsen, 64, of Roland (Republican), has announced he is running for re-election in his current position as a state representative.

“It has been a privilege these past six years to serve the people of Sequoyah County,” Olsen said.

He said when he initially ran in 2018, he told the people of Sequoyah County that he would stand for Biblical convictions, Conservative Family Values and Constitutional Law.

“I can say with a clear conscience and a strong record that this is exactly what I have done!” he said, regarding this.

Olsen said he has been widely recognized for his strong conservative values, including:

• Defending innocent unborn life has always been top priority. Had a key role in the closing of Oklahoma’s abortion clinics and as a result, received two “Pro Life Champion” awards from Students for Life.

• The Second Amendment has also been a very high priority. He was a primary author on Oklahoma’s constitutional carry bill, and honored to receive four “Minuteman of the year” awards from the Oklahoma Second Amendment Assoc.

• Defending Sequoyah County taxpayers has been very important, steadfastly resisting the calls for higher budgets, and insisting on fiscal responsibility.

• For conservative ratings, he has consistently rated very high – 99 percent from the Oklahoma Council on Public Affairs; 100 percent from the Oklahoma Constitution in 2023; and a 5-year composite rating of 98 percent, which is higher than any other legislator now serving. Additionally, the rating from Oklahomans for health and parental rights was an A+.

He said he enjoys helping Sequoyah County residents dealing with the various issues that they may have with a state agency. He has been able to help with birth and death certificates, passports, unemployment payments, disability issues, state tax refunds, roads, vaccine exemptions and many others.

“I humbly ask for your vote in the republican primary on June 18 so that I may continue to serve the people of Sequoyah County,” he concluded.
