Trustees discuss possible projects with VCF
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

Vian’s Board of Trustees met on April 15 where they discussed possible projects with the Vian Community Foundation (VCF).

Town administrator Keith Boshers thanked all guests and members of the VCF in attendance, which included Patricia Cobb, Kenyatta Wright, Rob Ridgeway, Lisa Ridgeway, Stone Sanders, Jeff Cotner and Sinclair Armstrong.

“On behalf of the town, we would like to move forward to a common goal,” Boshers said, as he handed out a proposal for a partnership grant with the foundation for projects needed at the Vian Little League fields.

The proposal included lighting, shading, bleachers, HVAC, concrete, electrical, and an additional parking lot. Bohers said the total cost of the project is estimated at $240,000.

“We are requesting a grant in the amount of $180,000 (75 percent) from the VCF, and the balance (25 percent) will be paid for by the town,” Boshers told those present.

Because the line item was for discussion purposes only, no action was taken by the board.

Boshers also gave the February and March fire reports for the Vian Volunteer Fire Department. He said the department had 11 runs in February and 16 in March.

Also approved during the meeting were:

• Audit Report by Robert St. Pierre, CPA, PC for the Town for the FY ending June 30, 2023

• Use of the downtown park gazebo to the Vian High School cheerleaders, May 2325, for their annual rib sale fundraiser

• Monthly police; sanitation, street and parks; and treasurer’s reports.

The Vian Board of Trustees meets the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, which are located inside Vian Town Hall.
