Registration is now open for Cherokee Nation Foundation’s two summer camps dedicated to helping Native students prepare for higher education.
This year, the annual ACT Prep Camp, hosted June 1-5, will be offered in a virtual format.
Students can choose to participate in any or all five academic sections, allowing students to identify their strengths and weaknesses and master test-taking strategies that will increase confidence and test-day scores. The camp leads up to the National ACT on June 8. The deadline to register is May 27.
“We have seen tremendous success in our ACT prep camp and believe the transition to a virtual format will help us maximize its potential,” said Janice Randall, executive director for CNF. “This format allows us to reach Cherokee students from anywhere and help them gain valuable testing strategies. Preparing for college can be stressful and we want to help ease that stress for as many students as possible.”
CNF’s Cherokee College Prep Institute, July 21-25, will be hosted at Rogers State University in Claremore.
The weeklong camp enables students to live on campus and get a firsthand look at what college life is really like. Students will connect with admissions counselors to analyze, prepare and complete college applications, identify scholarship opportunities and explore schools of interest. All lodging, meals and testing expenses are provided by Cherokee Nation Foundation, Cherokee Nation Businesses and Rogers State University. The deadline to register is July 8.
The camps are offered to Native students in grades 9-12, with preference given to Cherokee Nation citizens. Students can register online at www.CherokeeNation-Foundation.org.
