Robert Bob Risley

May 4, 1940 – Aug. 1, 2024

Funeral services for Robert Bob Risley, 84, of Vian, were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian. Burial followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mr. Risley was born on May 4, 1940, in the Carlisle Community to Maud (Ross) Risley and Clifton W. Risley. He died on August 1, 2024, in Vian.

He attended Box School and was a great horseman, running several ranches. He learned to sing, and play rhythm and bass guitar at an early age. He spent many weekends playing music at the Blackgum Community Building, coached little league, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

He married Emma Lou McConnell Risley on July 14, 1967, in Stilwell. She preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 2021.

Survivors are two sons, Charles C. Risley and Melissa Gatewood of Hartshorne and Mark A. and Amanda Risley of Vian; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Kellogg Malone and Allene Layman, both of Vian; and other family members and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Donald Risley, Carmel Risley, Roy Risley and Norman Risley; and one sister, Alice Florine Carey.

Pallbearers were Joseph Risley, Bobby Joe Risley, Mark Risley, Charles Risley, Johnny Mac Risley and Johnny Terrell.

Honorary pallbearers were Brent Garris, Harold Scoggins, Danny Gates, Troy Scoggins, John Ellis and Seth Fisher.
