Rough week for Webbers Falls Lady Warriors
By David Seeley Sports Editor

It was a rough week on the softball diamond last week for the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors as they lost all three games.

The Lady Warriors lost their home game Aug. 26 to the visiting Hulbert Lady Riders 14-2 at Eual Carter Sports Complex, then lost 9-0 at Warner on Aug. 27 and fell 14-6 at Gans on Thursday afternoon.

In the loss to Hulbert, after the Lady Warriors (1-8) cut their deficit to 4-2 at the end of the opening inning thanks to Gracie Stargell’s tworun inside-the-park home run, the Lady Riders put away the game with a 10-run second inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in and a run scored, while Sturgell hit a two-run, inside- the-park homer for Webbers Falls.

Rhilee Jones (1-7) took the loss, despite fanning four batters in three innings.

In the loss to Warner, Warner pitcher Ella Labounty threw a onehitter as the Lady Eagles flew past the Lady Warriors.

Warner scored twice in the opening inning and six runs in the second inning for an 8-0 lead. A run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

Lextyn Chappell’s single was the only hit for Webbers Falls.

Jones took the loss, despite recording three strikeouts in four innings.

In the loss to Gans, the Lady Grizzlies rallied from a 6-5 fifth-inning deficit with a tworun fifth inning and a seven-run sixth inning for a 14-6 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Baer was 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Karla Bonilla was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Lady Warriors (1-8).

Jones took the loss, despite fanning six batters in six innings.
