Gore Lady Pirates goes 3-0 last week
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Gore Lady Pirates could not be entering Class A District Tournament week on any better note than what they are.

Last week, the Lady Pirates won all three games played — 11-3 over Webbers Falls on Sept. 16 at home, 8-6 over Okmulgee on Sept. 17 at home and a 17-1 rout of the host Gans Lady Grizzlies on Thursday afternoon in Gans.

In the win over Webbers Falls, the Lady Pirates (14-8) jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a pair of four-run rallies in the first and second innings, as Gore led 8-0 after two innings.

The Lady Warriors cut the deficit to 10-3 in the fifth inning, but the game got to runrule status in the bottom of the frame when the Lady Pirates scored once to get an eight-run victory.

For the game, Kennedy Williams was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBIs, Hallie Brewer was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and a run batted in, Cheyenne Davidson was 2-for-2 with a double, Peyton Curran doubled with three RBIs and Emily Daily tripled and scored twice for Gore.

Davidson (14-8) got the win, getting three strikeouts in five innings.

In the victory over Okmulgee, the Lady Pirates rallied from a 4-2 fourth-inning deficit with a six-run fourth inning to take an 8-4 lead after four innings. The Lady Bulldogs scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but their rally came up short.

For the game, River Shoemake was 2-for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored, Brewer was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Davidson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Daily doubled and scored once for Gore.

Davidson got the win, fanning 10 batters in seven innings.

In the win over Gans, Davidson hrew a threeinning two-hitter.

The Lady Pirates got all the run support Davidson needed with a six-run first-inning for a 6-0 lead. After scoring five runs in the second inning, Gore put the game into run-rule status with a six-run third inning.

For the contest, Ricki Huckbay was 2-for-2 with two doubles, five runs batted in and a run scored, Williams was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI and Shoemake tripled with two runs scored and an RBI for Gore.

The postseason has arrived for the Lady Pirates as they will be in the Class A District Tournament today in Porum where they will meet the winner between Porum and Porter Consolidated at 11:30 this morning. The loser of Gore’s game will play in an elimination game at 1 this afternoon, while the Gore game winner will play in the district title game at 2:30 p.m. The if-game is slated for 4 p.m.
