Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling members compete at Tahlequah Open

TAHLEQUAH — The Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling team saw several members compete at last Saturday’s Tahlequah Open.

Jayden Gates, wrestling at 170 pounds in the age 15-and-younger division, finished fourth after losing the thirdplace match 2-0 to Sperry Wrestling Club’s Kade Runk. Gates opened with a 10-0 win over Runk in the quarterfinals, but was pinned by Kaiden Drechsler in the semifinals. Gates beat Checotah Mascats wrestler Ty Guthrie by pinfall in 1:55 in the consolation semifinals.

In the same division, Beau Moore went 1-3, beating Henryetta Knights Wrestling Club’s Kaleb Proctor by pinfall in 41 seconds, while losing to Sallisaw Takedown Club’s Xander Montgomery, Wagoner Takedown Club’s Hunter Branchcomb and Tahlequah’s Jaren Johnson, all by pinfall.

In the novice age 12-and-younger division, Wyatt Chitty went 3-1 at 80-84 pounds, getting wins over Viking Wrestling Club’s Jewels McClendon (193 technical fall), Tiger Trained Wrestling’s Easton Gwartney (16-2 major decision) and Sallisaw Takedown Club’s Kylie Kehl (pinfall win in 1:48), but he lost to Brushy Wrestling Club’s Bryir Jenkins 12-9.

Chitty also wrestled in the open age 12-andyounger division, losing to Pocola Youth Wrestling’s Kameryn Allison by pinfall in the quarterfinals and losing by pinfall to Brushy Wrestling Club’s Tristen Cross in the consolation semifinals.

Also in the open age 12-and-younger division, Jace Gates, wrestling at 130 pounds, lost in the semifinals by pinfall to Labette County Wrestling’s Liam Jones and was defeated 4-0 by Sperry Wrestling Club’s Taegan Austin in the consolation semifinals.

In the same division, Stryker Sandy won both of his matches at 160 pounds, defeating Henryetta Knights Wrestling Club’s Austin Holt (pinfall win in six seconds) and Salina Wrestling Club’s Brooklyn Wolfe (pinfall win in 55 seconds).

Also wrestling at 140 pounds in the open 12-and-younger division, Sandy went 1-1, beating Salina Wrestling Club’s Blaike Ivie by pinfall in 2:48 but losing to Pocola Youth Wrestling’s Drantly Brown 4-3.

In the novice age 8-and-younger division, two members, Liam Randolph and Logan Willoughby, made it to the consolation semifinals.

Randolph, wrestling at 46-49 pounds, opened with wins over Wagoner Takedown Club’s Cary Stewart (pinfall win in three minutes) in the Round of 16 and over Viking Wrestling Club’s Raelynn Gibbens (technical fall) in the quarterfinals, but was pinned in 1:23 seconds by Beggs Youth Wrestling Program’s Ryder Jenkins in the semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Randolph lost 9-3 to Tulsa Blue T Panthers wrestler Kayson Jones.

Willoughby, competing at heavyweight, defeated Locust Grove Youth Wrestling’s Tate Roberts by pinfall in 55 seconds in the quarterfinals, but lost by pinfall in 47 seconds by Sperry Wrestling Club’s Jaycee Cox in the semifinals. Willoughby then was pinned in 60 seconds by Locust Grove’s Liam Roberts.

Isabella Mannon, wrestling at 64 pounds in the age 8-and-younger novice devision, went 2-2 as she beat fellow member Stetson Andrews 19-12 and Raw Wrestling Club’s Easton Contreras by pinfall in 1:37, but she lost 6-4 to Bartlesville Wrestling Club’s Brody Harris and was pinned by Morris Wrestling Association’s Kendall Dean.

Andrews, also wrestling at 64 pounds in the age 8-and-younger division, lost both of his matches, falling to Salina Wrestling Club’s Hayden Wenetshlager in the quarterfinals and to Mannon.

At 46-49 pounds in the age 8-and-younger novice division, Levi Hughart lost to Wagoner Takedown Club’s Alex Korte by pinfall and lost 18-10 (major decision) to Raw Wrestling Club’s Elliott Gann.

Adalynn Sandy, wrestling at 52 pounds in the age 8-and-younger novice division, fell to Tulsa Blue T Panthers wrestler Hayden Gregory by pinball and lost 23-9 to Tahlequah’s Deryk Justice.

At 105 pounds in the age 8-and-younger novice division, Jeremy Brown was defeated by Hilldale Youth Wrestling Club’s Rowan Clagg and Vian Wrestling Club’s James Constant, both by pinfall.

In the age 6-andyounger division, heavyweight wrestler Alex Locust got to the semifinals before losing twice. He lost in the semifinals by pinfall to Sperry Wrestling Club’s Christopher Solt, then was pinned by Tiger Trained Wrestling’s Bohdi Scott in the consolation semifinals.

In the same division, 40-pounder Hastin Chitty was pinned by Tahlequah Wrestling Club’s Colt Keys in the quarterfinals after beating Wagoner Takedown Club’s Nova Miller by technical fall in the Round of 16. Chitty was then defeated by teammate Dawson York 9-7 in the consolation side.

Dawson York lost his Round of 16 match by pinfall to Viking Wrestling Club’s Jack Hebert. After beating Chitty, York lost to Wagoner Takedown Club’s Cayden Robertson by pinball in the consolation side.

Jax York, wrestling at 37 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division, lost his quarterfinals match by pinfall to Salina Wrestling Club’s Ryder Little, then fell by pinfall to Raw Wrestling Club’s Benjamin Kroll in the consolation side.
