Two Vian Wrestling Club members win titles at Bixby

BIXBY — Several Vian Wrestling Club members placed in the 2024 Bixby Thanksgiving Classic, which took place Nov. 30.

In the girls age 12-and-younger division, Joely Hunt went undefeated at 91 pounds as she won all three of her round-robin matches — pinning Berryhill Wrestling Club’s Milly Dean in 32 seconds, pinning Sperry Wrestling Club’s Natalie Le-Grand in 1:55 and beating Wagoner Takedown Club’s Bella Hutcheson 8-3 — to claim the championship.

Bronc Sumpter, wrestling at 90 pounds in the age 10-and-younger division, took home gold by winning the tournament after pinning Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Camden Lloyd in 2:17. Sumpter reached the finals with a quarterfinal win over Checotah Matcats wrestler Brantley Allison by pinfall in 3:27 and pinning Mojo Grappling Academy’s Chief Bourne in 51 seconds in the semifinals.

At 80 pounds in the age 10-and-younger division, Daxton Stewart was runner-up after pinning Raw Wrestling Club member Jaxon Roller in 1:43 in the second-place match. Stewart opened with a 4-2 win over Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Vincent Gustason, but lost to Roller in the semifinals by pinfall. In consolation action, Stewart pinned Tiger Trained Wrestling’s Greyson Dixon in 1:46 and got a 9-0 major decision over Bristow Youth Wrestling’s Reid Claggett in the consolation quarterfinals and beat Morrison Takedown Club’s Kamden Burk 6-0 in the consolation semifinals. Stewart beat Gustason once more, this time 3-0, in the consolation finals to get him to the second-place match.

In the age 12-andyounger division, Rocky Ford, wrestling at 110 pounds, was third after losing the second-place match by pinfall to Skiatook Youth Wrestling’s Kayden Dennis. Ford opened with a quarterfinals win to Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Caden Russell by pinfall in 32 seconds before getting a 9-0 major decision over Keystone Wrestling Club’s Clinton Stout Jr. in the semifinals. He lost in the finals to Keystone Wrestling Club’s Zander Pope by pinfall.

Keaton Gregory, wrestling at 52 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division, finished third after losing the second-place match by a 9-1 major decision to Cowboy Wrestling Club’s Garrett Doyle. Gregory opened with a pinfall win in 27 seconds over Beggs Youth Wrestling Program’s Eli Wagoner and a pinfall victory in 1:28 over Coweta Tiger Wrestling’s Axton Berry in the quarterfinals before losing a 14-0 major decision to Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Jaxon Ditmore in the semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Gregory pinned Tulsa Blue T Panthers wrestler Copper Dewey in 18 seconds in the consolation semifinals and pinned Cowboy Wrestling Club’s Baker James in 1:43 to make it to the second-place match.

Another third-place finisher for the organization came compliments of Kainen Hunter, wrestling at 43 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division. Hunter opened the tournament with a pinfall win in 2:43 over Berryhill Wrestling Club’s Noah Morgan in the Round of 16 and got a 19-7 major decision over Owasso Takedown Club’s Emerson Williams in the quarterfinals before being pinned by Cowboy Wrestling Club’s Rhett Pitts in the semifinals. Hunter bounced back with a pinfall victory in 2:34 over Morgan in the consolation semifinals and got a 7-3 win over Tiger Trained Wrestling’s Rafe Evans in the third-place match.

Josh Constant, wrestling at 70 pounds in the age 10-and-younger novice division, placed third after losing to Hurricane Wrestling Academy’s Mikah Amani. Constant won his quarterfinal match with a 1:47 pinfall win over Victory Grappling Club’s Andres Alaniz but lost 11-5 to Skiatook Youth Wrestling’s Driver Baker in the semifinals. Constant bounced back with a 37-second pinfall win over Victory Christian School’s Skyler Oliva in the consolation semifinals before pinning Raw Wrestling Club’s Wesley Eakin to get to the second-place match.

In the girls age 10-and-younger division, Harlea Lucas, wrestling at 62 pounds, went 3-1 as she pinned Collinsville Cardinal Youth Wrestlings Channing Perrier in 22 seconds, pinned Mojo Grappling Academy’s Mia Brigge in a minute and pinned Woodland Wrestling Club’s Mariah Strange in 32 seconds. Lucas lost 4-1 to Fort Gibson Youth Wrestling’s Gracie Tumleson. Lucas placed third.

Wrestling at 60 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division, Klasen Couch finished fourth with a 15-3 major decision loss to Glenpool Warriors batman Clayton Walters in the third-place match. Couch began the tournament by getting a 5-0 quarterfinal victory over Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Maxen Pino before being pinned in the semifinals by Keystone Wrestling Club’s Maverick Spencer. Couch bounced back in the consolation semifinals with a 14-6 major decision over Barnsdall Youth Wrestling’s Jack Sadler to get to the third-place match.

In the age 8-andyounger novice division, 90-pounder James Constant was fourth after he lost the thirdplace match by pinfall to Coweta Tiger Wrestling’s Carter Caughman. Constant defeated Glenpool Warriors wrestler Ryker Wittman by pinfall in 2:53 in the consolation semifinals after losing a 12-1 major decision to Keystone Wrestling Club’s Kane Lee in the quarterfinals.

Madalynn Turman, wrestling at 88 pounds in the age 10-and-younger division, pinned Bartlesville Wrestling Club’s Addilyn Ashton in 37 seconds but was pinned by Mojo Grappling Academy’s Jordan Raspberry and Woodland Wrestling Club’s Grayson Hazen before losing 4-3 to Sperry Wrestling Club’s Mia Arnold. Turman finished fourth.

Josie Constant, wrestling at 147 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division, went 1-3, with her lone win being a 52-second pinfall victory over Pawhuska Elks Takedown Club’s Addison Kirchner. Constant lost by pinfalls to Jay Wrestling Club’s Kinley Kirby, Glenpool Warriors wrestler Adalynn Parsley and Woodland Wrestling Club’s Daisie Bledsoe. Constant finished fourth in her division.

In the age 10-andyounger division, Reid Locust went 2-2 at 85 pounds. After being pinned by Raw Wrestling Club’sRobertStegeman in the Round of 16, Locust pinned Ponca City Wildcat Wrestling’s George Combs in 2:47 and edged Columbus Wrestling Club’s Lucas Natalini 9-8 in consolation action before losing by pinfall to Keystone Wrestling Club’s Kason Wolfe.

Luke Sandlin, wrestling at 55 pounds in the age 8-and-younger division, went 2-2 on the day. Sandlin pinned Salina Wrestling Club’s Achilles Davie in 2:32 in the Round of 16 before being pinned by Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Vincent Burgo in the quarterfinals. Sandlin then got an 8-0 major decision over Raw Wrestling Club’s Norah Winkle before being pinned by Salina Wrestling Club’s Bryker Smith.

In the age 8-andyounger division, Dallas Rice, wrestling at 61 pounds, also went 2-2. After beating Pitfall Wrestling Academy’s Gage Knight-Osborne 13-10 in the Round of 16, Rice was pinned by Keystone Wrestling Club’s Brenntly Taylor in the quarterfinals. After pinning Tulsa Blue T Panthers wrestler Ryett Rinn, Rice lost by pinfall to Mojo Grappling Academy’s Huck Olson.

Thomas Sandlin, wrestling at 58 pounds, was pinned by Grove Takedown Club’s Sage Zumwalt and by Claremore Wrestling Club’s Ryland Peters.

Wrestling at 49 pounds in the age 8-andyounger novice division, Asher Stewart was pinned by Team Tulsa Wrestling Club’s Drew Price and by Claremore Youth Wrestling’s Grayson Six.
