Central basketball teams sweep Gans

The Central High School basketball teams dominated the Gans squads on Dec. 17 at the Central High School Gym.

The Lady Tigers started the night with a 64-8 win over the Lady Grizzlies, while the Tigers clawed the Grizzlies 74-11.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Tigers (5-1) jumped out to a 28-2 lead after a quarter and were never headed.

For the game, Central put three players into double figures, led by Haley Cheek with 15 points and Ayrland Jiles and Cambree Bair with 11 points apiece. Zoey Lattimore scored seven points, followed by Hadlie Woods with six points, Paris Campbell with five points, Kimberlynn Fahrman with three points, Ryleigh Pierce, Cheyenne Busch and Khloe Buzzard with two points each and Alexxus Bolin with a free throw.

In the boys’ game, the Tigers (4-2) put away the game with a 36-1 opening period en route to a 49-5 halftime advantage and a 60-5 third-quarter lead as Central blanked Gans 11-0 in the third quarter.

For the game, Noah Buzzard scored a gamehigh 13 points to lead Central, followed by Nathan Vann and Josh Brunk with eight points each, Aiden Cawhorn with seven points, Gavin Randolph with six points, O’Dell Parker and Hardy Buzzard each with five points, Kyle Reed with four points, Kiefer Bailey and Cole Holcomb with three points each and Braxin Goodson, Jake Woods, Brycen Chandler-Eisman, Aidan Sainer, Cale Stewart and Kage Poindexter with two points apiece.
