Former Vian wrestler helps CASC Lady Vikings to third-place finish in Women’s Coaches Duals

The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings wrestling team finished third in last Saturday’s 2025 NJCAA Women’s Coaches Duals, which took place at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the CASC-Poteau campus.

The Lady Vikings defeated Southwestern Oregon Community College 39-14 in the championship quarterfinals before losing 33-18 to Iowa Central Community College in the championship semifinals.

The Lady Vikings defeated Umpqua College from Oregon 31-20 in the third-place match.

Former Vian Lady Wolverine Taya Hunt, wrestling at 145 pounds, went 2-1 on the day, beating Southwestern Oregon’s Alexandra Estela by pinfall in 1:47 before losing by pinfall to Iowa Central’s Kammie Schanz. Hunt ended the day with a 31-second pinfall win over Umpqua’s Hailey Gordon.

The Lady Vikings (4-3 in duals this season) will be in the Grand View Open this Saturday.
