Gore powerlifters do well in Iron Hog Classic; regionals next for Pirates, Warriors

PANAMA — The Gore Pirates powerlifting team did very well in its regular-season finale, the Iron Hog Classic, which took place Thursday for junior high powerlifters and Friday for high school lifters at Razorback Event Center.

In the high school division, Devon Mannon and Marcus Scott were runners- up in their respective weight classes, Drake Cowart was third, Antonio Parker was fourth and Gabe Hefley and Maden Smith were fifth.

In the junior high division, Cole Brooksher, Jaydan Gates, Luke Wisdom and Treydan Daugherty were champions at their respective weight classes. Beau Moore, Weston Cunningham and Trenton Cunningham all were second, while Jace Gates and Seth Current were third.

The Webbers Falls Warriors did not participate in the meet, which was postponed Feb. 21 due to issues caused due to that week’s snowstorm.

The regional meets are next for both the Pirates and the Warriors, with the Pirates participating in the Class A Regional Meet Thursday in Hartshorne, while the Warriors will be in the Class B Regional Meet on Friday at Hilldale High School in Muskogee.
