COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Seven Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings wrestlers, including former Vian Lady Wolverine wrestler Taya Hunt, and three Vikings earned All-American status at last weekend’s 2025 NJCAA National Tournament, which took place March 7-8.
On the Lady Vikings’ side, Hunt was sixth at 145 pounds, while Sam Markwardt was third at 131 pounds. Chantelle Alburg was fourth at 124 pounds, Gabby Watson was fifth at 235 pounds and Abigail Butts (110 pounds), Margaret Jordan (160) and Stacy Nash (207) were sixth.
For the Vikings, Deontre Buttram was fourth at 174 pounds, SeanMichael Gonzalez was fifth at 133 pounds and Ethan Day was eighth at 184 pounds.
The CASC Lady Vikings coaching staff, led by head coach and CASC Athletic Director Jake Lords, was voted as the National Wrestling Coaches Association NJCAA Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year.
