Former Vian softball player helps Eastern go 5-3 over last eight games

Former Vian softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers went 5-3 over their last eight games.

On April 8, EOSC swept another home twinbill, this time from Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa by scores of 6-3 and 10-8.

On April 10 in Miami, Okla., the Lady Mountaineers swept a pair of five-inning games from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M by scores of 9-0 and 19-3.

On April 12 in Warner, EOSC split a road doubleheader with the Cowgirls, winning the opener 6-3 but losing the nightcap 9-7.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Mountaineers were swept by the Seminole State College Belles by scores of 3-1 and 6-2.

On April 15, the Lady Mountaineers were swept by the Seminole State College Belles by scores of 3-1 and 6-2.

Both of last week’s home doubleheaders, last Thursday against NOC-Enid and last Saturday against Rose State College, were rained out as well as Tuesday’s home twinbill vs. Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College.

The NOC-Enid games have been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Wilburton, followed by the Rose State home doubleheader at 2 p.m. Saturday and the home twinbill vs. Fort Scott at 1 p.m. next Tuesday.

In the sweep of NOCTonkawa, Wells went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Game 1, while hitting a double with two runs scored and a stolen base in Game 2.

In the opener against NEO, Wells singled, while she went 2-for-3 with a double, four runs scored and a stolen base in the nightcap.

In Game 1 against Connors State, Wells went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while going 3-for-4 in Game 2 with a double and a run batted in.

In the first game against Seminole State, hitless in two at-bats, while going 2-for-3 in the nightcap.

Through 44 games this season, Wells is hitting .429 with six doubles, three triples, six home runs, 18 runs batted in, 43 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.
