Sept. 19, 1947 – April 7, 2025

Graveside service for Gary D. Cox, 77, of Sallisaw, was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Brent Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Mr. Cox was born on Sept. 19, 1947, in Sallisaw to Nicholas Edward Cox and Lillian (Dawson) Cox. He died on Monday, April 7, 2025, in Sallisaw.

He was a dredge captain and owned and operated his own dredge.

Survivors include his companion, Rosalie Montgomery; two daughters, Faith and Milton Biggers of Hector, Ark., and Candace Cox of Sallisaw; two sisters, JoAnn Forbes of Checotah and Betty Keef of Pocasset; six grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, David Edward Sr., Luther “Toby” Sherman, James Cherry and Charles “Butch” Cox; and four sisters, Juanita Moss, Vivian Green, Maxine Lewis and Pansey Lee McFarland.
