By SPORTS EDITOR

The Vian Lady Wolverines went 2-2 last week on the slow-pitch softball diamonds.

The Lady Wolverines blanked the Stilwell Lady Indians 6-0 on April 15 and got a 9-6 home win over county rival Gore on Thursday night at Armstrong Park.

However, the week started with a 10-9 road loss against Central on April 14, and the week concluded with a 15-3 four-inning home loss to Howe on Good Friday afternoon at Armstrong Park.

In the win over Gore, the Lady Wolverines (611) scored four runs in the first inning and once in the second inning for a 5-0 lead. A run in the fourth inning made it 6-0, only to see the Lady Pirates score four runs in the fifth inning to cut their deficit to 6-4. Gore cut the Vian lead to 7-5 in the sixth inning but got no closer as the Lady Wolverines scored two big insurance runs in the sixth inning to make it 9-5.

For the game, Kala Gibbins was 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Rayleigh Terrill was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored, Halli Russell was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored, Eden Girty was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, LaKoeta Cheater was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Tressa Sandlin hit her first home run of the season and scored twice for Vian. Terrill (6-11) got the win.

In the victory over Stilwell, Terrill tossed a two-hitter to help the Lady Wolverines snap a seven-game losing streak.

The Lady Wolverines scored twice in each of the first, fifth and sixth innings.

For the game, Sandlin was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs batted in and a run scored for Vian.

In the loss to Central, The Lady Tigers , who trailed 9-4 in the sixth inning, scored five runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 9-all and walked it off in the seventh inning as Ayrland Jiles stole home for the game-winning run.

In defeat, Gibbins was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Terrill was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, Eden Gilbert was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Cheater was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Lady Wolverines. Terrill took the loss.

In the loss to Howe, the Lady Lions jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. After the Lady Wolverines cut their deficit to 5-3 after an inning, the Lady Lions put the game into run-rule status with a pair of five-run innings in the second and fourth innings.

In defeat, Brooklyn Cox was 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Gibbins hit her first home run of the season for Vian. Terrill suffered the loss.

The Lady Wolverines were slated to play Tuesday in the Class 4A District Tournament at Pocola with Arkoma-Cameron.
