Webbers Falls Lady Warriors beat Keota, lose to Gore, Okay

The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors went 1-2 last week, beating Keota 7-4 on April 15 in Keota, but losing 14-6 in six innings to Gore on April 14 at Eual Carter Sports Complex and falling 17-6 in four innings to Okay on Thursday afternoon.

In the win over Keota, after the Lady Lions tied the game at 4-all with a run in the sixth inning to force extra innings after the Lady Warriors (6-15) had taken a 4-3 lead in the top of the frame, the Lady Warriors scored three runs in the 10th inning to get the win.

For the game, Bailey Ward was 4-for-5 with a run scored, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Bentley Ward was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, Rhilee Jones was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored, Katie Frazier was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Karla Bonilla tripled with two RBIs and a run scored for Webbers Falls.

Lextyn Chappell (49) got the win as she got two strikeouts.

In the loss to Gore, the Lady Pirates, who trailed 1-0 after an inning, scored six runs in the second inning to lead 6-1. The closest the Lady Warriors got was 6-4 after a three-run third inning as Gore responded with a four-run fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning for an 11-4 lead. A three-run sixth inning for Gore put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Bentley Ward was 3-for-4, Bailey Ward was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Jones was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Kendra Kimble was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Shkyra Scruggs was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Baer was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Chappell tripled with an RBI and a run scored for Webbers Falls.

Chappell (3-10) took the loss, despite recording three strikeouts.

In the loss to Okay, after the Lady Warriors scored four runs in the opening inning for a 4-0 lead, the Lady Mustangs scored five runs in the first inning and six runs in the third inning for an 11-4 lead. After the Lady Warriors cut their deficit to 11-6 with two runs in the fourth inning, the Lady Mustangs answered in the home half of the frame with six runs to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Chappell was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Baer was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Bailey Ward doubled with an RBI for Webbers Falls. Chappell suffered the loss.

The Lady Warriors, along with the Quinton Lady Savages, will travel to Blue, located east of Durant, to meet the Rock Creek Lady Mustangs for the Class 2a District Tournament this week.
