Webbers Falls Warriors beat McCurtain, fall to Okay, Gore
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Webbers Falls Warriors went 1-2 last week, beating the Mc-Curtain Bulldogs 6-4 on April 15 at Eual Carter Sports Complex, but they lost 8-6 at Okay on April 14 and fell 13-3 in four innings at Gore on Thursday. Friday’s home game against Porum was canceled, with no make-up date set.

In the win over Mc-Curtain, the Warriors (10-13-1) snapped a two-game losing streak with the home win.

After the Bulldogs cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fourth inning, the Warriors scored twice in their half of the frame to up their advantage to 5-2. The ’Dogs cut their deficit to 6-4 in the seventh inning but got no closer.

For the game, Brutus Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and scored once, while Caden Mc-Namara doubled and scored twice for Webbers Falls.

Robinson (1-3) got his first win of the season, going the first six innings with eight strikeouts. Ryan Cowan went the final inning with a strikeout.

In the loss to Okay, the Mustangs rallied from a 5-2 secondinning deficit with a single run in the third inning and a five-run fourth inning for an 8-5 lead.

In defeat, Robinson was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Hayden Stephens was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and Cowan doubled for the Warriors.

Trysten Wilbourn (31) suffered his first loss of the season, getting three strikeouts. He was the hard-luck loser as all of Okay’s runs were unearned due to five Webbers Falls errors.

In the loss to Gore, the Pirates, who trailed 3-0 in the first inning, tied the game at 3-all after an inning, then put the game into run-rule status with a four-run second inning, a tworun third inning and a four-run fourth inning.

In defeat, Robinson and Luke Pierce each singled for the only hits off Gore starter Gage Dame.

Pierce (2-2) took the loss, going the first three-innings with three strikeouts. Gunner Shelby got the last out on a strikeout.

The Warriors will entertain the Cave Springs Hornets this week for the Class A-II District Tournament at Eual Carter Sports Complex.
