Vian Lady Wolverines’ season on the diamond ends
By David Seeley Sports Editor

POCOLA — The 2025 slow-pitch softball season came to a close for the Vian Lady Wolverines at the Class 3A District Tournament on April 22.

The good news is the Lady Wolverines defeated the Arkoma/Cameron co-op team 12-0 in three innings.

However, the Lady Wolverines could not get past Class 3A’s thirdranked and district-host Pocola Lady Indians, who defeated the Lady Wolverines 10-0 in four innings and 9-0 in five innings to end Vian’s season.

In the win over the Lady Mustangs, the Lady Wolverines (713) broke a scoreless tie with a pair of six-run innings in the second and third innings for a 12-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Tressa Sandlin was 2-for-3 with two doubles, five runs batted in and two runs scored, Rayleigh Terrill was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Aubree Craighead doubled with a run scored and Halli Russell doubled with an RBI for Vian. Terrill (713) got the win.

In the first loss to Pocola, the Lady Indians, who led 1-0 after an inning, put away the game with a seven-run second inning for an 8-0 lead. A two-run fourth inning put the game into runrule status.

Pocola pitcher Lety Parga three-hit the Lady Wolverines, who got a single apiece from Brooklyn Cox, Rayleigh Terrill and Tressa Sandlin. Terrill took the loss.

In the season-ending loss to Pocola, Parga five-hit the Lady Wolverines, and the Lady Indians scored six runs in the first inning and three runs in the third inning for a 9-0 lead to put the game into runrule status.

In defeat, Eden Girty was 2-for-2 with a double, while Sandlin, Russell and Cox all singled for Vian. Terrill suffered the loss.
