Gore Pirates fall twice in regional to see season close

The Gore Pirates saw their 2025 baseball season end Thursday at the Class A-I Regional Tournament at Ripley with two losses, an 8-4 loss to Summit Christian and an 11-7 seasonending loss to Hominy.

The Pirates won their regular-season finale, posting a 4-1 road win over the host Muldrow Bulldogs.

In the regional-tournament loss to Summit Christian, the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 first-inning deficit with a tworun second inning and a three-run third inning to take the lead for good at 5-2. After the Pirates (17-10) scored once in the fourth inning to cut their deficit to 5-3 after four innings, the Eagles put away the game with a three-run sixth inning to take an 8-3 lead.

In defeat, Gage Dame was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored for Gore.

Tate Brooksher (3-5) suffered the loss, despite getting eight strikeouts in six innings. James Brasuell went the final two innings with two strikeouts.

In the season-ending loss to Hominy, the Bucks rallied from a 7-4 fourth-inning deficit with a six-run sixth inning and a run in the seventh inning to get the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Dame and Duane Hunt each singled for the only hits for Gore.

McKennon McElhaney (4-2) suffered the loss in relief, going two innings with two strikeouts. Brasuell started and went 3.1 innings with eight Ks. Kyler McGee followed McElhaney to the mound and got a strikeout, then Eli Munson went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

In the win over Muldrow, the Pirates rallied from a 1-0 fourth-inning deficit with a run in the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-all, then scored twice in the sixth inning and once in the seventh inning to complete the comeback victory.

For the game, McGee was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Cruz Ward was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored and Dame was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Gore.

McElhaney got the win going the final 2.2 innings in relief with a strikeout. Brooksher got the start and went two innings with four Ks, then Brasuell went the next 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.
