By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Gore Lady Pirates went 3-4 last week on the softball diamond.

The week for the Lady Pirates got underway with a 2-1 road loss to Roland on Sept. 8, then they split their Sept. 9 home games with Quinton — winning the opener 1-0 but losing the nightcap 9-0.

In the Interstate 40 Shootout, which took place Thursday at Central High School and Saturday in Roland, the Lady Pirates went 2-2.

On Thursday, the Lady Pirates routed Checotah 12-1 and beat Central 6-2, but they lost twice on Saturday — losing 4-0 to Roland and 5-0 to Muldrow.

In Monday’s loss to Roland, the Lady Rangers scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Pirates (11-8) tried to mount a game-tying rally in the seventh inning as they scored once, but they left the game-tying run at second base.

In defeat, Kylie McEver doubled and scored once, Kennedy Williams doubled with an RBI and Jimma Peevy singled for Gore.

Alevia Reasnor (8-4) was the hard-luck loser as she threw a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
