Webbers Falls Lady Warriors get back-to-back wins last week
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors got backto- back wins last week as they defeated Hulbert 8-5 on Sept. 15 at Eual Carter Sports Complex, then got a 7-2 Riverside Conference road win over Arkoma on Sept. 16.

However, there was not a three-game winning streak as the Lady Warriors fell 8-0 in five innings on Thursday at Porum.

In the win over Hulbert, the Lady Warriors (3-10) got their second win of the season, thanks to some late-inning offense.

Trailing 4-3 after four innings, the Lady Warriors scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good at 7-4 after five innings.

For the game, Lextyn Chappell and Bailey Ward each were 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Webbers Falls.

Rhilee Jones got the win as she struck out five batters in seven innings.

In the victory over Arkoma, the Lady Warriors won for the second straight day.

The Lady Warriors jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, which became a 4-1 advantage by the fourth inning. A three-run seven inning sealed the deal.

For the game, Madison Reece was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, Chappell and Ward each singled with two RBIs, Ricki Frazier had an RBI and Jones and Shkyra Scruggs each singled for Webbers Falls.

Jones got the win as she fanned nine batters in seven innings.

In the loss to Porum, Porum pitchers Mesa Coulston and Jaelyn Smith combined to three-hit the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Panthers scored twice in each of the first two innings, then added three runs in the fourth inning and once in the fifth to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Scruggs, Reece and Kendra Kimble each singled for Webbers Falls.

Jones suffered the loss, although she struck out two batters in 4.1 innings.

The Lady Warriors were idle until the Class A District Tournament got started on Tuesday in Cameron with Webbers Falls. The district champion will advance to next week’s regional tournament, while the other two teams will see their seasons end.
