Bunting: A busy life, but a blessed one
By JADE PHILLIPS SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Brittany Bunting of Sallisaw has spent 37 years living in Sequoyah County.

A 2006 graduate of Vian High School, she grew up north of Vian on Lake Tenkiller.

“I was a lake baby,” she said.

She also has a twin sister, Brandy, and the two of them love to play small pranks on loved ones.

She moved to Sallisaw at the age of 18 after moving out of her parents’ home, and has lived here since.

Bunting continued her schooling at Carl Albert State College in Sallisaw in Childhood Education. She is now married to Tim and has been blessed with four children.

“One of them is yoga,” she said. “I started the activity when I was still young, and me and my sisters would often do it together.”

Bunting said she still keeps the habit up. Twice a week, she and her sisters meet at church to share the activity with one another, and even invite other members of the church to join.

Not only is Bunting very involved in her church, she is also one of the founders.

“Church 2:42 was founded earlier this year in February and I am still so proud of it,” she said. “Something about our church is that it is very youth focused. A lot of the things we do, it is meant for the kids.”

Bunting said she is a part of the worship team, teaches the youth on Sundays, and is there to help with the youth group on Wednesdays.

Family is very important to her, especially as a mom of four. She enjoys spending time with them on weekends with cookouts and board games. “We laugh and have a good time telling stories,” she shared with a smile.

Bunting is employed as an administrator for the OSU Extension for the Sequoyah County court.

“I act as a secretary, making sure others are doing alright, planning events and making sure the word gets out there,” she said.

On her days off, you can often find her going to yard sales, antique shops, or even thrifting. When school is in session, she said all of her children keep her busy.

“Each one of them are on a sports team and with that, I am also a part of booster clubs,” she added.

Looking back on her life in Sequoyah County, Bunting said she feels blessed. Between raising children, helping start Church 2:42, working at the OSU Extension, and staying active in her community, her days are full. But surrounded by family, faith and the place she’s always called home, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It’s a busy life but also a very blessed one,” she said. And for Bunting, that’s exactly how she likes it.
