TAHLEQUAH — Two local wrestlers placed in Saturday’s Tahlequah Open.
In the age 12-andyounger division, Vian Wrestling Club wrestler Parker Mabe won the 73-pound title as he went 3-0, beating both Fort Gibson Youth Wrestling’s Gunner Jenkins (14-6 score) and Tulsa Blue T Panthers wrestler Ryan Coose (20-5) by technical falls before defeating Fort Gibson Youth Wrestling’s Drake Lear 10-7.
Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling wrestler Jaydan Gates finished second at 170 pounds in the age 15-andyounger division. He reached the finals by getting two technical- fall victories over Tahlequah Wrestling Club’s Phillip Daugherty (17-2 score) and Fort Gibson Youth Wrestling’s Jack Wilson (16-1) before losing 8-5 to Tahlequah Wrestling Club’s Hayden Justice in the championship match.
