Webbers Falls Warriors seeking bigger, better things this season
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Webbers Falls Warriors were 8-14 a season ago and lost their one and only playoff game with a 61-54 loss in the Class A District Tournament last year in Red Oak.

The Warriors will return four starters from a season ago, all of whom are underclassmen.

Junior starters back are guards Brutus Robinson, who averaged 4.5 points and 3.4 rebounds last season, and Gunner Shelby, who had a 5.6 scoring average and a 3.3 rebounds average per game a season ago.

The other two returning starters are sophomores — forward Thadan Yandell (12 points, 5.8 rebounds per game last season) and Chevy Cole (9.8 points, 6.5 rebounds).

Senior guard Eli Hefflin, who averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds, likely will be the fifth starter.

“We should be better this year,” Webbers Falls boys coach Jim Glover said. “We’re still very young overall.”

Glover said his team’s strength is good overall size, but he said it will be important to get good guard play game in and game out.

Rounding out the roster will be senior guards Trysten Wilbourn, Brody Terrell and Caden Carter, junior forward Caden McNamara, sophomore forwards Cordae Shine and Chandler Cramer, sophomore guard Ryker Gilley and freshmen forward Cason Newcomer.

Here are the members of the 2025-26 Webbers Falls Warriors basketball team. Front row, from left — Brody Terrell, Caden Carter and Eli Hefflin. Middle row — Caden McNamara, Chevy Cole, Chandler Cramer, Colton Lester, Ryker Gilley and Joseph Moore. Back row — Cordae Shine, Caleb Baize, Chandler Cramer, Brutus Robinson, Gunner Shelby, Thadan Yandell and Cason Newcomer. Not pictured — Coach Jim Glover and player Trysten Wilbourn.
